On Tuesday January 17, 2012 the Green Valley Elks Lodge #2592 Drug
Awareness Chairman, Jack Ponzo, and Cheryl Ponzo - Leading Knight awarded
Drug Awareness Essay winners with 1st and 2nd place medals. Also, the first
place winner received a Drug Awareness Basketball. These awards took place
at the Sopori 6th grade classroom of Mrs. Cyndy Gettinger. There was 1 first
place winner and 1 second place winner from the 6th grade class. The first
place winner's essay will be entered into the Arizona State Elks Association
Drug Awareness Essay competition. Twenty-four students entered essays for
this Drug Awareness Competition Theme of "I Choose Not To Use".
The first place winner was Elina Sanchez and 2nd place winner was Daniel
Valdez. Congratulations to both excellent students for their awards.
